Description
After extensive testing in our coffee lab, we’ve found this grinder to be a remarkable all-purpose workhorse, handling everything from espresso to pour-over with its single burr set. Its standout feature? Precise real-time grinding by weight, with a particular knack for traditional espresso profiles.
Key Features We Love:
- Professional-grade 54mm ceramic flat burrs
- Impressive 220 grind settings through macro and micro adjustments
- User-friendly front LED control panel
- Virtually no wasted grounds with near-zero retention
The Vario+ marks a significant upgrade from its predecessor. While coffee enthusiasts often modified the original Vario to match Forte’s capabilities (including burr and chamber upgrades), the Vario+ comes ready to perform with its metal brew chamber straight out of the box. You’ll find the same ceramic burrs from the Forte AP in the standard + model, while the W+ variant sports the premium stainless steel Ditting burrs found in the Forte BG.
For anyone seeking a well-rounded grinder with weight-based dosing at a brilliant price point, we believe this machine offers exceptional value. Its vast range of grind settings and versatile grinding capabilities make it a fantastic investment.
However, it’s worth noting that while this grinder handles all brewing methods admirably, its true strength lies in espresso preparation. The + model, with its ceramic burrs, particularly shines when crafting traditional, chocolatey espresso profiles.
For those prioritising filter coffee or preferring brighter, fruit-forward espresso shots, we’d suggest considering the W+ model instead. That said, the steel burrs are available as an optional upgrade if you’d like the flexibility to experiment with different flavour profiles later.
