Description
After months of hands-on testing at our coffee lab, we’re sharing our detailed findings on the Timemore Black Mirror Basic scale.
What sets this updated version apart from its predecessor?
The biggest improvement we’ve discovered is the integration of their Nano version’s more responsive firmware, making it even better for both espresso and manual brewing enthusiasts.
Our team was particularly impressed by the sleek design featuring a hidden display that springs to life with crisp, clear digits at the touch of a button.
While the semi-concealed button design is an improvement over the original model (where completely hidden buttons sometimes proved frustrating to locate), we found this new interface strikes a better balance between aesthetics and usability.
At 3cm in height, it’s not the most low-profile scale on the market. If a slimmer profile is essential for your setup, consider investing an extra £10 in the Nano version, which comes in at a more compact 2cm.
The 1600-mAh lithium battery has proven remarkably reliable in our testing, delivering approximately 24 hours of use. We appreciate the quick charging time and the practical USB-C connection – you can easily use your smartphone charger if you misplace the included cable.
The scale comes with a protective silicone pad, though we should note that a portafilter plate isn’t included in the package.
Wondering why proper coffee scales make such a difference to your brewing?
